The Mission of Swift Child Care

Our Story
In 1987, Swift Child Care was founded by a local Skokie family, Illinois, guided by a deep commitment to early childhood education. From the very beginning, our vision was to create more than a daycare—we wanted to build a place that nurtures the whole child in every way: emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively.
Over the years, we’ve become deeply rooted in the community, recognized by parents, schools, and state programs for the high-quality, loving care we provide. We believe parents are their child’s first and most important teachers, so we partner closely with families through parent education, social events, and open communication.
A core part of our mission is fostering a true sense of belonging for children, families, and staff alike. Our team is multilingual and multi-ethnic, which allows us to honor children’s home languages and cultural backgrounds. At the same time, we focus on preparing children not just for kindergarten, but for lifelong learning—helping them build independence, critical thinking, and self-help skills.
Wellness has always been another priority for us. From providing nutritious meals and daily outdoor play in our private playlots, to supporting children’s emotional well-being, we see health and learning as inseparable. Creativity and literacy are woven into daily life as well, including through valued partnerships like the one we have with the Skokie Public Library.
Through nearly four decades of service, we’ve earned the trust of our community, as well as awards like the Rising Star and recognition from state licensing and early childhood stakeholders. Beyond our own programs, our leadership has helped build and support collaborative structures in the community, contributed volunteer leadership, and worked on policy advocacy to strengthen support for children, families, and providers across Illinois.
Today, SCC continues to stand as both an anchor in Skokie and the greater Niles Township community, and as a model of what high-quality early childhood education can look like when it is rooted in values, family and community partnership, and strong collaboration.
