What is the Prevention Initiative Program?

The Prevention Initiative Program is a special program funded by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). It focuses on providing high-quality early childhood care and education for infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds. The goal of the program is to help young children get a great start in life by supporting their development in the first few years, which are the most important for learning and growth.

How Does This Program Help My Child?

• Developmental Support: The program helps children from birth to age 3 grow in all areas—social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

• School Readiness: Even though your child may be too young for school, this program helps them get ready for preschool and kindergarten by promoting skills like problem-solving, language development, and interacting with others.

• Family Engagement: The program also works closely with parents and caregivers to support family life and help you understand your child’s needs. It offers resources and guidance to help you be the best parent or caregiver.
